Foods That Fight Fat

Couldn’t we all use some more tricks to help us combat fat? Believe it or not, there are certain foods that if you eat more of can help you lose weight and stay slim. Below are examples of a few that help you to do just that.

Cottage Cheese: This has whey protein, which releases hormones that tell your brain when you have had enough to eat. Non-fat cottage cheese with pineapple tidbits or strawberries is actually my favorite filling, grab and go breakfast.

Egg Whites: The amino acids in egg whites help build lean muscle that in turn helps to rev up metabolism. Start having an omelet with veggies and low-fat cheese for breakfast or dinner.

Almonds:   These are high in alpha-linolenic acid. A study in the International Journal of Obesity found that alpha-linolenic acid speeds up metabolism. Add a handful to your salads or eat as an afternoon snack.

Low-Fat String Cheese: Calcium-rich foods reduce fat-producing enzymes and increase fat breakdown. At only around 80 calories per stick, you get calcium and appetite suppressing protein.

Edamame: This is an excellent source of protein and filling fiber, both of which will help you to eat less and lose weight. Buy them in the pod and shell them for a snack or add it to a salad.

Mustard: The spice that gives mustard its yellow color is called turmeric. A Study in the journal of Endocrinology found that turmeric may slow the growth of fat tissues. Lesson of the day here is use mustard not mayo!
