Robotic Surgery

At BMI of Texas we offer Robotic Surgery for our weight loss and general surgery patients.

How it works

The surgeon works from a remote station about 4 feet away from patient. In this station, the surgeon is able to view the surgical field in 3D.  Also the station is equipped for the surgeon’s hands to manipulate the robotic “hands”.  The surgeon’s hand and finger movements are translated into real time, precise movements of the robot “hands” operating inside the patient.

Benefits

With the use of the robot system it allows for state of the art robotic technology which extends the visual field of the surgeon, enhanced dexterity, greater precision in movements, greater range of motion of instrumentation, and ergonomic comfort for the surgeon.

Recent studies have also proven that there is less bleeding risk and risk of infection for the patient.
