Amy Rivas, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

Before and After BMI

Amy is a native of San Antonio, born and raised. She is also a 4th generation nurse and has been in healthcare for over 20 years.

She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of the Incarnate Word in 2002. She then began her career at a local hospital system where she worked in critical care, emergency department, telemetry, and labor and delivery. After 16 years working as a registered nurse, she moved on to pursue her advanced nursing degree, graduating with honors in 2018.

Many years of caring for people in the ER is what fueled a desire to focus on health and wellness because so many of the illnesses people needed treatment for could have been prevented with lifestyle modifications and healthy weight management. Joining the team at BMI of Texas felt like a natural fit fulfilling her desire to change people’s lives with preventative care and optimizing health and wellness.

When not at work Amy loves spending time with her husband of 17 years and their three children, three dogs, and pet chickens. The family loves to be outdoors, performing and listening to music, traveling, gardening, and cooking.
