It’s never too early or too late to gain control of your health and wellness!

Our expert nutrition team comes fully stocked with two licensed Registered Dietitians, an Obesity Medicine Specialist certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine and two highly knowledgeable Nurse Practitioners (NP), each of whom is well versed in the nutritional needs of patients wanting to lose weight in order to improve their health and overall quality of life. This is particularly important when it comes to the more specialized needs of our surgical patients.

So you’re considering weight loss surgery?

Great! Our dietitians will work with you step-by-step through our pre- and post-operative program making sure you feel comfortable and confident from start to finish. They will provide you with a strong foundation regarding lifestyle changes necessary in order to improve your health and maximize your weight loss. We provide a variety of options when it comes to products and supplements which are specifically designed to meet the needs of bariatric surgery patients.  Although weight loss surgery can be a tremendous tool, it is just part of the solution in treating obesity and our team will be there to support you long term so that you not only achieve your initial goals but that you are able to sustain them lifelong.

Perhaps weight loss surgery isn’t your next step OR you’ve already had your procedure and want to continue your weight loss journey with us…

Excellent! We are excited to invite you into our interactive medical weight loss program where we will cover all things food, such as:

  • becoming a smarter shopper by understanding food  labels and deceptive marketing tactics
  • menu planning
  • learning to prepare new recipes
  • making healthier choices when dining out and eating on the go
  • being better prepared with healthy snack options

Additionally, our team will work with you to understand the importance of behavior modifications such as self-monitoring through food journaling, regular physical activity, and stress management.

Whatever your challenges may be, our nutrition team is committed to offering effective solutions which will help ensure your weight loss journey a positive, life-changing experience.

Kids and Teens

Childhood obesity is a significant problem in our country and puts our children at risk for diseases traditionally only seen in adults such as high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, and sleep apnea.  Children who are overweight or obese often suffer from low self-esteem and poor confidence which can lead to depression, anxiety, isolation, and underachievement. According to a number of studies, the number one reason children report being bullied in schools is for being overweight.   These children need our help.

Many of our adult patients say, “If only I had known then what I know now.” The earlier we can intervene, the more likely we are to help that child avoid or reverse their obesity. We have developed a family focused, kid-friendly nutritional approach  which focuses on minimizing processed foods, eliminating excess sugar and starch, and increasing leafy greens, vegetables, fruits, healthy fats, and protein.  Your child will work side-by-side with our nutrition team to set goals attainable for their age and level of maturity.

Patients report feeling more in control of their food choices, decreased hunger, fewer cravings, increased energy, and overall improvement in self-esteem, physical activity and academic performance.  At BMI of Texas, we are dedicated to helping families make the transition toward healthier lifestyle choices which are both practical and realistic for parents while being both hip and fun for kids.
